The Anglo-Venezuelan Society (Society) is a non-political, not-for-profit organisation founded in 1976 with the aim of promoting economic and cultural links between the UK and Venezuela. The Society has achieved this goal by becoming the UK’s specialist forum of informed discussion on Venezuelan issues. It organises a variety of events of an economic, business, social and cultural nature. In order to extend its reach, the Society has developed partnerships with UK Trade & Investment’s Oil & Gas Team for the Americas and the Caracas-based British-Venezuelan Chamber of Commerce.

HE Samuel Moncada accepts Honorary Presidency of The Anglo Venezuelan Society

The Society is delighted to announce that at its Annual General Meeting held on 24th September 2008, the Members voted unanimously in favour of HE Samuel Moncada, Venezuelan Ambassador to the Court of St James, becoming the new Honorary President of the Society.

Election of New Chairman of the Society

Mr Juan Urdaneta, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Society, taking over from Mrs Sally Unwin who is standing down after more that 3 years. Mr Urdaneta, is the first Venezuelan to Chair the Society and we all wish him well with his new responsibilities.

Society's Christmas Party - Thursday 4th December - MARK YOUR DIARIES!

This year's party, at Canning House on Thursday 4th December from 7:00pm will offer traditional Venezuelan foods, rum Santa Teresa. wine and live music with the famous Palenke band. We look forward to seeing you and your friends there. Plese register and purchase your tickets in advance 15 pounds for members, 25 pounds for joint-members, and 22 pounds for non-members.

ALAF Fiesta 2008 - Saturday 18th October

This year's Fiesta was held on Saturday 18th October at Kensington Town Hall. We should like to thank all volunteers who helped make the event such a success. We are still receiving some late donations, but monies raised will exceed Pds1,500 and will be sent to the Escuela Basica Jenaro Aguirre in Petare.
